Reviewing and committing
A marking run is a draft until you commit it. AutoMark checks each reading against the scan and flags readings it cannot verify. Your review resolves those items; your confirmation is what records the marks.
Read the scan beside the answer
Section titled “Read the scan beside the answer”Each flagged item shows the cropped scan, the reading and the proposed mark. Start with the student’s writing. Decide whether the reading matches it, then whether the mark is right for the answer and your key.
Use E to enlarge the crop when you need a closer look. If the source is not legible, check the original paper rather than assuming the proposed reading is correct. Scanning guidance can help with the next run.
Choose the appropriate decision
Section titled “Choose the appropriate decision”- Confirm (
C): the reading and mark are right. - Override (
O): make the marking decision yourself. - Also correct (
A): accept a fair answer missing from your key. This adds the answer and re-marks the run against it.

Read the commit digest
Section titled “Read the commit digest”Finish the review and check the student assigned to every paper. Commit results stays locked while required marking or review work remains.
When ready, open the digest headed Record these results?. Read the students, totals and anything unusual before confirming. A clean review queue does not record results by itself: you still confirm the marks before they reach student records.
After committing
Section titled “After committing”The results appear on the run and in student records. You can export them to CSV. If you find an error later, individual marks can be corrected and a paper can be reassigned to another student. Those actions are recorded as your changes.
