Your account and signing in
An AutoMark account belongs to one teacher. The tests you write, the classes on your roster and the marks you commit all sit inside it, and it has one sign-in: yours.
Signing in
Section titled “Signing in”Sign in at app.automarkhq.com with the email address and password the account was set up with. AutoMark keeps you signed in on that browser for a month, so on your own laptop you’ll rarely type the password.
If the address and password don’t match, AutoMark says so without saying which of the two was wrong. That’s deliberate — the screen is written not to give away who has an AutoMark account.
If a password goes in wrong several times in a row, AutoMark pauses sign-in for a short while, around fifteen minutes, before letting you try again. Nothing is locked and nothing is lost, and the pause clears on its own.
Confirming your email address
Section titled “Confirming your email address”When an account is created, AutoMark emails a link to confirm the address is yours. It comes from support@automarkhq.com with the subject “Confirm your AutoMark email”, and the link is good for 48 hours and works once.
If it hasn’t arrived, look in your spam or junk folder — mail from a sender you haven’t heard from before is exactly what a mail provider files there. Once you’re signed in there’s also a Resend link in the banner across the top of the app.
Until the address is confirmed you can do nearly everything: sign in, build tests, print papers, set up your classes. The one thing AutoMark holds back is uploading and marking scanned papers. Those are your students’ papers, and AutoMark confirms that the address on the account really is yours before it starts handling them. Open the link and the hold lifts straight away.
If you forget your password
Section titled “If you forget your password”Choose Forgot password? on the sign-in screen and enter your address. AutoMark emails you a link to set a new password; it lasts an hour and works once. The screen tells you the same thing whether or not the address is registered, so it doesn’t give away who has an account either.
Setting a new password signs you out of AutoMark everywhere else, on every other browser and device. That’s the point of a reset: if someone else had got into your account, changing the password is what puts them out.
Passwords are at least eight characters. AutoMark asks nothing else of them.
On a shared or family computer
Section titled “On a shared or family computer”If you open the sign-in page in a browser that is already signed in to AutoMark, AutoMark doesn’t assume you meant that account. It names the account the browser is in and asks whether to carry on as them or sign out and switch. Read the address before you choose — in a staffroom, the account already there may not be yours.
When you’ve finished on a computer that isn’t your own, sign out from the account menu. Signing out also clears any upload AutoMark had part-way through in that browser, so a scan you were midway through isn’t left on screen for whoever sits down next.
Getting an account
Section titled “Getting an account”AutoMark is in private beta, and new accounts are not open to the public. There is a waiting list at automarkhq.com if you’d like to leave your address.
If you already have an AutoMark account, none of that applies to you: sign in with the address you used and your work is where you left it.
